WORCESTER - Jean Nina Austin Campbell Sidlo, 67, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Jewish Healthcare in Worcester. Born in Worcester on April 25, 1947, she was the older daughter of Carl A. and Eleanor Sherwood Austin of Oxford.
Following graduation from West Virginia Wesleyan College, she received a nursing degree from Mount San Antonio College in California. She moved to Raleigh,
North Carolina, after a career in nursing, and received a Master’s degree in Christian Education from Campbell University in nearby Buies Creek. She was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina, and worked in childhood education. In 2004 she was honored as Teacher of the Year by the NC Baptist State Convention. She and her husband returned to Massachusetts in
January, 2011, to be closer to their families.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence “Sid” Sidlo of Worcester; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Amy Campbell and Jeffrey and Kiley Campbell; beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Gwyneth, Ethan, Travis, and Chelsea Campbell, all of Worcester; her sister, Jane Redmond, and her children, of San Francisco, California; stepchildren, Steven and Elaine Sidlo of El Paso, Texas, Anne and Mark Hellkamp of Bothell, Washington, Jennifer and Robert Henley of Hopkinton, and Jonathan Sidlo of Auburn and their children; her step-mother, Helen Austin, of Oxford; and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are in invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 on Sunday, June 1, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, in the funeral home followed by a committal service at North Cemetery in Oxford. Please omit flowers.
