STERLING/FITCHBURG – Marjorie J. (Bingham) Perkins, 74 of 279 Daniels Street, Fitchburg, formerly of Sterling, died peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2010 after a long illness. She was born in Waltham, daughter of Belding and Marjorie (Prentiss) Bingham, was raised in Princeton, lived 30 years in Sterling and 10 years in Clinton before moving to Fitchburg in 2000.
She leaves her five children, Nancy Kosiewski and her husband Don of Lancaster, James Perkins and his wife Cathy of Leominster, Laurie Kraemer and her husband Wayne of Princeton, Jeanne Woodward and her husband Bob of Annapolis, MD, and Heidi Bergeron and her husband Peter of Manchester, NH; seven granddaughters, Amy Perkins-Cormier and her husband Christopher, Kara Kosiewski-Hesch and her husband Christopher, Jessica Perkins and Tonjaleca Perkins, Jacklyn Kosiewski, Kelly Kraemer, Haley Bergeron and Hannah Bergeron; 10 grandsons, Benjamin Kraemer and his wife Danielle, Nicholas Kraemer, Rashard Perkins, R. Lee Kosiewski, Miles LeClaire and Kyle LeClaire , Ryan Perkins and Jeremy Perkins and Matt Bergeron, three great-grandsons, Aaron Perkins, Mateus Lima and Rashard Perkins, Jr. She also leaves her brother, Herbert Bingham of Princeton and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and her closest friend Irene Dorion and her dog Sweetie Pie. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Emily Miller and granddaughter, Melissa Perkins.
Marjorie was a graduate of Holden High School and owned and operated a country store and deli in Sterling for several years. Previously, she worked in Hudson for Digital Equipment Corporation. She was an accomplished furniture maker, antique dealer, collector of toys and loved attending yard sales. As a volunteer clown for Why Me? Inc. & Sherry’s House, she brought joy and smiles to many ill children. She actively participated and enjoyed the annual Prentiss Family Reunion for over 40 years. Her favorite joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 24th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Marjorie’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25th, in the funeral home with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, Princeton.
