PAXTON/HOLDEN– Jay Snell, 83, of 191 Stiles Road, Boylston, died Monday, February 12, 2007 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.
His wife of 55 years, Pauline J. (Casey) Snell, died in 2003. He leaves two sons, Kevin J. Snell of Sutton and Kerry E. Snell of Martin, Georgia; two daughters with whom he lived, Jane M. Snell and Anne E. Good both of Boylston; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Jay N. and Lena (Dondero) Snell, was raised in Holden and lived 50 years in Paxton before moving to Boylston five years ago. He was a graduate of Holden High School and received an Associates Degree from Worcester Junior College.
Mr. Snell was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the American and Asiatic/Pacific theatres aboard the U.S.S. Ascella. He worked for over 40 years for Heald Machine Division of Cincinnati Milacron, retiring as Director of Inventory Control in 1986. He was an active member of A.P.I.C.S. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Paxton and a former member of the Paxton Finance Committee and the Wachusett Regional School Committee.
The funeral service for Mr. Snell will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 16, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, in the funeral home.
