STURBRIDGE – Janice B. Dodge-Renaud, 63, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, February 24, 2016. She was born in Holden, the daughter of Norman C. and Greta S. (Oberg) Dodge and had lived in Paxton and Shrewsbury before moving to Sturbridge over 20 years ago.
She leaves her loving husband of 18 years, Mark A. Renaud; her son, Gregory J. Griffin and his wife, Kelly of Hingham; her sister, Christine Daley of Holden; her brother, Bradford Dodge and his wife, Diane, of Georgia; her grandson, Winter Griffin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janice graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, earned her Associate and Applied Science degree at Tidewater Community College, her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Worcester State College and her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Connecticut. Janice was a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist at YOU, Inc. in Worcester since 2003. Previously, she was the director of Behavioral Health Nursing and Crisis Services and was a Consultation Liaison at Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, CT. Janice was a member of the Sturbridge Federated Church and was a former member and a youth group director at the Shrewsbury Congregational Church. Janice was also a former member of the Paxton Congregational Church. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing, Mu Chapter, The American Nurses Credentialing Center and was on the staff advisory board and co-leader at Cottage Hill Academy.
Hiking and camping in the mountains were some of her favorite activities. She enjoyed the ocean especially when she could bring her beloved Golden Retrievers to the beach. Visiting with family and friends was her favorite thing to do. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life for Janice will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 1 p.m. in the First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to You, Inc., 81 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01604, or Cottage Hill Academy, 81 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
