Life Legacy
Barre – Janet “Patc” M. (Babbitt) Wiersma, passed peacefully on Wednesday August 31st surrounded by family at Umass Memorial Medical Center after an illness. She leaves her son, Tommy J. Lee, Sr. and his wife, Corey LH Lee of Leicester; her daughter, Tonya D. Lee of Leominster; her grandson, Tommy J. Lee, Jr.; her sister, Diane Perkins of Northport, FL; her brothers, Paul Cichon of South Windsor, CT and Peter Cichon of South Hadley; her uncle, Alfred LeTendre of Spencer and the LeTendre family; and many other cousins and close friends. Born in Holyoke and raised in Spencer, Patc was the daughter of Kennetth Babbitt and Janette Perkins. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Roberta Desaulniers and brother, Ken Perkins. At the age of 16, with a talent and interest in cosmetology, she attended Leo’s Beauty Academy in Worcester. Patc ventured into the work place and began her 50 year career in hair dressing at Lorraine’s in Spencer. Patc’s career continued at Salon 240 for many years before opening Country Style Hair Design by Patc in Oakham in the late 90’s. Patc moved to Barre with her business in 2010 and continued to enjoy her work and was passionate about her clients up until the date of her death. Patc loved animals and especially enjoyed her time with her dogs, sunbathing, cooking and time with her family and friends. At Patc’s request, her body was donated so that current and future generations could benefit through the advancement of science and medicine. Patc’s family extends heartfelt appreciation to UMASS Memorial Medical Center and the CCU staff for their compassionate care during her illness. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Patc’s family on Thursday September 8th from 6-8pm at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street Holden. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Patc’s name may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
