Jane Murray

Sterling - Jane (Judkins) Murray, 73, of Sterling, formerly of Rutland, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at UMass Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.

Jane was born in Holden and was raised in Rutland, the daughter of the late Harold and Charlotte (Wheeler) Judkins. She was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School, class of 1969. After graduating Jane worked for nearly eight years at ASTRA Pharmaceutical in Worcester. When her children were of school age Jane worked in the school cafeterias at Chocksett, Houghton and Butterick schools from 1988 to 1995. In more recent years, Jane worked at River Terrace Nursing Home in Lancaster from 1996 to 2007. From there she worked at Holden Nursing Home from 2007 to 2014 until her retirement due to illness. Jane worked in the laundry service at both nursing homes.

In September of 1975 Jane married Bruce Murray of Sterling. They would have been married for 49 years this September. In addition to her husband, Jane will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Rhonda Murray of Framingham, Paula Murray of Sterling, and Scott Murray and his wife, Holly, of Holden and their beautiful daughter, Kelsie. Jane absolutely cherished her children and granddaughter.

Jane was one of five children. She is survived by her brother, Alan Judkins of Rutland; and several nieces and nephews, especially her devoted niece, Sheila Judkins of Rutland. Jane is predeceased by her brother, Robert Judkins; her sister, Judith Judkins; infant sister, Jacqueline; as well as two half-sisters, Evelyn Congdon and Louise Keddy.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and loving nurses in the ICU/CCU Department at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Leominster Hospital. We are most grateful for the care that they provided for Jane.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Rd., (Route 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
