Jane Dube

March 4, 1950 — February 16, 2025

STERLING - Jane (Himmer) Dube, 74, of Sterling, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus.
Born on March 4, 1950, in Clinton, she was the daughter of Albert L. and Eva M. (Peeso) Himmer. A lifelong resident of Sterling, Jane graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1968.

Jane was married to John J. Dube for 52 wonderful years, and together they raised three sons: Andrew, Matthew, and Stephen.

Jane began her career at Paul Revere Life Insurance in Worcester, where she worked from 1968 to 1975. She then took on the role of a full-time homemaker, devoting 18 years to raising her boys while gracefully navigating all the ups, downs and injuries that three boys naturally add to the household. In 1993, Jane began her second career with the Wachusett Regional School District, where she worked until her retirement in 2020.

Jane cherished family gatherings and loved walking the beaches of Martha's Vineyard. She was an avid gardener, taking great joy, tending to her flowers. Becoming "Grammy" was a highlight of her life, and she adored supporting her grandchildren, Gabriella I. Dube and Nathan R. Dube, in all their endeavors. Known for her kind heart, level-headed wisdom, and a touch of sarcasm, Jane gave advice that was always rooted in love and respect. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her parents, Albert L. and Eva M. (Peeso) Himmer, her brother, Robert L. Himmer, and her sister-in-law, Mary-Ann (Flagg) Himmer.

Jane is survived by her sons: Andrew J. Dube of Oxford, Matthew A. Dube of Fitchburg, and Stephen M. Dube of Lunenburg; her grandchildren: Gabriella I. Dube and Nathan R. Dube, along with their mother, Melissa L. Dube of Oxford; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Jane's life will be planned for the summer of 2025.
