Jami Carlo of Worcester passed away peacefully surrounded by her family following a short illness. Calling hours will be 4-7pm, Thursday, August 18th at Miles Funeral Home in Holden.
Jami was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to James and Rita Paulsrud (Shovald). Jami and her sister, Tari Shovald spent their first few years living in Eau Claire. James passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind two young daughters. Rita remarried to John Shovald and the family moved frequently due to his part in the Navy.
Jami attended Pearl City High School in Hawaii and spent 7 years living in Honolulu. She moved to southern California taking classes at Los Angeles City College before settling in Worcester and resuming her studies at Worcester State College. Jami worked at Norton Co. where she met and married Thomas Carlo.
Together Tom and Jami raised 4 beautiful children, Kristin, Molly, Brenna and Michael She enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening and spending time with her family and pets. Jami also enjoyed shopping, going out for a bite to eat and long car rides with the windows down. She was a free spirited woman, with a kind heart to match her kind eyes, and stories for days. Jami most recently worked at Reliant Medical where she was a switchboard operator for over 10 years.
She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, friends and coworkers. In lieu of flowers the family asks to consider donations to Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association, Inc (ECAA).
