PAXTON – James J. Laraia, Jr., age 84, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at RegalCare in Worcester. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Cronin) Laraia.
James was raised in Worcester, graduating from North High School where he excelled in sports. He went on to graduate from Trinity College, where he was inducted into the basketball hall of fame. He most recently worked for CMSC Driving School in West Boylston where he had a passion for helping young students learn how to drive.
In his spare time, James enjoyed golfing with his friends. He was a longtime member of the Sterling National Country Club. Later in life, he enjoyed the simple pleasures like the crossword puzzles that arrived daily with the local newspaper. He always enjoyed every aspect of life and knew how to have a good time.
He leaves behind his daughter, Jody Laraia of Paxton; a son, Cameron Laraia of North Brookfield; a sister, Joan Christiansen and her husband, William of FL; 3 grandchildren, Jason, Jordin and Jameson Laraia; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Carol (Molinari) Laraia; a son, Jason Laraia; and his brothers, John and Joseph Laraia.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with James’ family from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, July 1st, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm.
