RUTLAND - James W. Dunn III, 57, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was born in Worcester, the son of James W. Dunn Jr. and Mary T. (Walsh) Dunn and has lived in Rutland for over 25 years.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 32 years, Jo-Ann M. (Englehart) Dunn; his beloved daughter, Katherine-Rose Lian Dunn; his brothers, Kevin M. Dunn and his wife, Judy of North Smithfield, RI and Thomas J. Dunn of Gardner; his sister, Mary Beth Stanton and her husband, Bill of Holden; six nieces and six nephews.
James graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical High School with the class of 1978. He married Jo-Ann on September 29, 1985 at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Worcester, and the loving couple soon settled in Rutland. James was a truck driver for R and M Leasing for many years and had recently started working for Feeney Brothers Utility Services. He had previously been a member of the Teamster's, driving for Atlas Distributing in Auburn. James was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland and had taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for six years. He was also active with the Knights of Columbus there. James had a passion for repairing anything with an engine. He enjoyed boating, motorcycling and especially riding his snowmobile. James was an avid outdoorsman. Above all he was a devoted father, husband, brother and friend.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday April 27 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, April 27th at St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main St., Rutland. Burial will be private.
