Jael G. Deoliveira

March 14, 1935 — March 31, 2016

LANCASTER - Jael G. DeOliveira, 81, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016, under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. Born in Castro, Parana Brazil, Jael was the daughter of Antonio Goncalves and Durvalina DePaula Oliveira, and lived many years in Cruzeiro do Oeste, Brazil before moving the United States in 1992. Her devoted husband of 60 years, Antonio E. Oliveira died in 2013. She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her son, Jeremias DeOliveira and his wife, Elzira of Lancaster; three daughters, Elenice DeOliveira of Sao Paulo Brazil, Alzenir DaSilva and her husband, Leopoldo of Leominster, and Aulenir Elis of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, Rodrigo, Tiago, and Henrique DeOliveira, Rafael and Naor Toledo, Jr., Debora Argueta, Gabriel and Heber DaSilva, and Julianna Beltran; 9 great-grandchildren, Jhuan, Danielly, Julia, Hadassa, Samuel, Annabel, David, Amaya and Keiliana; seven brothers; many nephews and nieces. Jael was raised and lived many years in a small town in Brazil by the name of Cruzeiro do Oeste, Parana. She was a virtuous and hard working woman and taught her children to be caring and independent. "Anything is possible” was the spirit that inspired Jael to operate her own clothing business out of her home in Brazil. Her children and husband assisted her by going door to door delivering, negotiating and selling clothing. In 1992, Jael and her husband, Antonio courageously immigrated to the United States, where they joined their family who settled several years earlier in Lancaster. She embraced her new life in Lancaster and immediately immersed herself in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and other local activities. It wasn't long before Jael's new neighbors and friends realized that she was a gifted cook and bread maker. As the demand for her bread grew, she once again recruited her family to assist her with the home deliveries of her baked goods. She was also known for her home remedies that she offered for most common ailments. In her spare time, Jael also enjoyed partaking in crocheting and various arts and crafts. Jael was faithful to her God and church and was one of the founding members of the Lancaster Portuguese Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lancaster. She was truly inspirational and will be remembered for humility, compassion and perseverance. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jael's family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd. (Rte. 12), Sterling. A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at the Lancaster Portuguese Seventh-day Adventist Church, 357 Sterling Road in Lancaster, with Pr. Paulo Vieira officiating. Interment will follow at Eastwood Cemetery in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lancaster Portuguese Seventh-day Adventist Church, 357 Sterling Rd., Lancaster, MA 01523-2905.
