HOLDEN - Jacqueline A. (Hansen) Dickman, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 30, 2015.
Born in Lake City, Florida, Jackie was the daughter of the late Charles Hansen and Edith (Swain) Hansen Nash. She was raised in Worcester and graduated from North High School. Jackie worked for several years as a hospital emergency room technician before her passion for cooking led her to a career with the Shrewsbury school system where she later became their Director of Food Services. Jackie soon shared her cooking talents by opening her own restaurant, The Plaza Grill, located in the former Shawmut Bank Tower in Worcester. Later, Jackie returned to school cafeteria management as the food services director in Grafton before her retirement. As a young woman, Jackie was a talented dancer and was also an avid skier for most of her life, spending many hours carving turns on Mount Wachusett.
She will be missed by her two sons, Gregg W. Dickman and his wife, Angela of Hudson, NH and Scott A. Dickman of Grafton; her brother, Howard Hansen of North Carolina; her two sisters, Laura Roffee and her husband, Charles of Sterling and Linda Pickett and her husband, Steve of Chapel Hill, NC; her four grandchildren, Blake A. and Brent A. Dickman, Dustin Chapman and Chelsea R. and Torrey P. Dickman; as well as her only aunt, Mildred (Swain) Froemel of Clinton. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert LaJoie.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Jackie’s family on Monday, December 7, at 1 p.m., at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden for a memorial service in celebration of her life. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sweetpea F.O.R. Animals, Inc., 1090 Pleasant Street, Paxton, MA 01612.
