HARDWICK – John "Jack" P. Remington, Sr., 51, of Prouty Road, Old Furnace, died Monday, June 23, 2008 in the Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 22 years, Kerry J. (Potvin) Remington; a son, John P. Remington, Jr. of Old Furnace; a daughter, Mary E. Remington of Old Furnace; his father, William A. Remington, Sr. of Brookfield; a brother, William A. Remington, Jr. and his wife Karen of North Brookfield; a sister, Kathy A. Erickson and her husband Peter of New Durham, NH; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Mary (Gain) Remington, and lived several years in Barre before moving to Hardwick 17 years ago.
Jack graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade High School where he received the "Golden Hammer Award". He was a self-employed master carpenter and took great pride as being a meticulous craftsman and hard worker. He later worked many years for the Carpenters Union, Local #107. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Barre. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and had a passion for playing the harmonica.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2nd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral Mass for Jack will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3rd, in St. Joseph's Church, 29 South Street, Barre. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Granger Road, Barre.
