BARRE – Ivy Leeper, 91, of Barre, passed away peacefully at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center in Framingham, Massachusetts on Friday July 30, 2021 after an illness. Born and raised in Sion Mills, County Tyrone, N. Ireland, Ivy was the daughter of John and Kathleen (Colhoun) Russell and lived over 30 Years in Barre.
In 1950, Ivy and her husband journeyed from Northern Ireland to the United States and settled in Foxboro, MA where they raised two sons. Ivy was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and worked over 30 years for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health retiring at the age of 55.
Ivy was a most generous and kind individual who always enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She will be remembered for her great cooking/homemaking skills, her ability to quickly respond to spontaneous get-togethers and her well known competitive spirit when playing Scrabble.
Ivy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Francis Leeper. She leaves her two sons Michael J. Leeper and his wife, Jacalyn of Gorham, ME and Kevin R. Leeper and his wife Beatriz of Medway, MA; two grandchildren, Kathryn (Leeper) Henry and her husband Collin Henry and Shaun Leeper and his wife Alyson (Greenleaf) Leeper; and a great granddaughter, Madelyn. Besides her parents, Ivy is predeceased by her siblings in N. Ireland.
Members of the family will honor her memory at a private graveside ceremony at the Glen Valley Cemetery in Barre, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
