HOLDEN – Isabel (Morrison) Hildum, 96, of Holden, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Holden Nursing Home after a long illness.
Her husband of 57 years, Edward B. Hildum, died in 1987. She leaves a son, J. Scott Hildum of Livermore, CA; two daughters, Nikki E. Downes-Martin of Newport, RI and Susan T. Hildum of Holden; a sister, Audrey Tice of Flemington, NJ; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A son, Donald C. Hildum, died in 1996, and a grandson, Peter M. Ewald, died in 1984.
She was born in Hollis, New York, daughter of Joseph A. and Alice A. (Mauger) Morrison, and lived in Westminster and Petersham before moving to Holden two years ago. She was a 1929 graduate of Plainfield High School in Plainfield, New Jersey, attended Holyoke College, and was a member of the Gardner Boat Club.
A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peter M. Ewald Scholarship Fund, c/o Holland Hendrix, Office of Institutional Advancement, Hampshire College, 893 West Street, Amherst, MA 01002; or the Donald C. Hildum Scholarship Fund, c/o Susan Goepp, John Dodge House, Development Information Services, Oakland University, Rochester, MI 48309-4497.
