WORCESTER - Irwin “Milky” Goldstein peacefully passed away on July 25th at the age of 89 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Born in London, Ontario, Irwin practiced psychiatry for the state of Massachusetts and maintained a successful private practice. Although he studied medicine, his true passion was math; he loved reading math books and solving math problems in his spare time. As a native Canadian, he was an avid hockey fan, but had a deep love for all sports. Irwin was also a talented athlete, winning numerous awards in track and field, and was one of Worcester's original runners, sporting Converse high tops before running shoes were commonplace. He was an accomplished tournament chess player and later in life developed a passion for Bridge.
Irwin was known for his eccentricity, high intelligence, and being a lone wolf. His greatest pride and joy, however, were his daughters: Beth Lemieux of Oakham, MA; Wendy Goldstein of Durham, NC; Caren Goldstein of Philadelphia, PA; Jordana Goldstein of Barcelona, Spain; and Jill Goldstein of Arlington, MA.
We would like to thank everyone on the 5th floor at Jewish Healthcare for taking such good care of Irwin in his final years. Arrangements private and are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
