RUTLAND - Irene J. (Prusko) Kaminski, 95, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018. She leaves her daughter, Paula and son-in-law, Brian Stidsen, with whom she lived. She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda in 2003, husband, Joseph in 2005, and her five sisters. Irene will also be missed by her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; who lovingly referred to her as GiGi.
Irene was born in Worcester, daughter of Julius and Katherine (Struczko) Prusko. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked at various secretarial jobs. An active member of her church, St. Catherine of Sweden Church in Worcester, Irene served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and catechism teacher. She moved to Rutland in 1999 to be with her family.
Irene loved her Singer sewing machine, and she spent many hours creating clothes for her two daughters. Her work was always meticulous. She also liked to crochet, embroider and she was a great gardener. She loved to do word puzzles .
Irene was a woman of deep faith. She was devoted to Our Blessed Mother, and her rosary beads were always nearby. Our family is grateful to all the members of the Hospice team at Overlook VNA for their loving care and support over the past three months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 20 at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Entombment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
