Irene (Gauvreau) Kowalczyk

September 28, 1927 — April 14, 2016

Biography
WEST BOYLSTON – Irene G. (Gauvreau) Kowalczyk, 88, quietly passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 while in the gentle and tender care of the dedicated staff of Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born and raised in Princeton, a daughter of the late Leo and Emma (Linnus) Gauvreau.
Following graduation from high school, Irene entered the working world for several years before settling down, marrying and starting her family. Soon her four children arrived. As the family grew, Irene found herself with the challenge of not only being a single mother, but also being the provider for her children. Irene began working as an administrative assistant at Nypro Industries in Clinton, and then for Perkins Engineering, Ayer where she worked for many years.  As a single mother, Irene dedicated herself to raising and providing for her children and was always there for them.  Along the way, Irene met a new love, Frank Kowalczyk.  Frank adored Irene and whom he lovingly referred to her as “doll”. Together, the new couple truly enjoyed each others company, whether “cutting the rug” on the dance floor or countless hours with a fishing pole in hand, whether on a deep sea excursion or gently floating on the peaceful waters of Lake Winnisqaum in New Hampshire, Irene was sure to always haul in the biggest fish.

Her beloved Frank died in 1999. She will be forever missed by her three sons, Jerry Miller and his wife, Patti-Jo of Fitchburg, Dave Miller of Fitchburg and Gary Miller and his wife, Colleen of Yorba Linda, CA; her daughter, Sandra Emery and her husband, William of West Boylston; her four sisters, Dorothy Ohlson of West Boylston, Frances Rice of Princeton, Nancy Ball of Princeton and Jean Trudeau of Gardner; three step children, Laurel, Holly and Butch; her 13 grandchildren and her 11 great-grandchildren.
