HOLDEN - Irene A. (Aurell) Anderson, 92, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in the Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston.
Her husband of 27 years, Henry S. Anderson, died in 1963. She leaves a son, Norman W. Anderson of Rutland; a daughter, Barbara A. Johnson of Waterville Valley, New Hampshire; a sister, Elen Macy of Storrs, Connecticut; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Fredrick and Anders Aurell, predeceased her. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of Victor D. and Augusta (Hokinson) Aurell. She was raised in Worcester, graduated Worcester Girls Trade, and lived in Holden for over 70 years.
Mrs. Anderson was an inspector for Astra Pharmaceutical of Worcester. She was a charter member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, was active in the church’s Ladies Aid Society, social affairs, and Church fairs. She was a former member of the First Lutheran Church in Worcester.
The funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
