CHARLTON/VENICE, FL – Ingeborg Karen (Mielow) Fisher, 91, passed away in Florida on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 after an illness. She was born in Longmeadow, the daughter of Max and Marie (Jensen) Mielow and had lived in Rutland and Charlton before moving to Florida 20 years ago.
She enlisted into the military in 1943 and became a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. While in the service, she met the love of her life, John F. Fisher, and they married in Washington, DC on Jan. 3, 1945. Ingeborg worked for area companies including Reid Plastics in Holden for many years before retiring in 1985. She loved and adored her grand and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Her husband of 47 years, John F. Fisher, passed away in 1992. She leaves a son, John D. Fisher and his wife, Judith of Charlton City; two sisters, Edith Birch of PA and Margaret Paulson of NH; three grandchildren, Amy Pettinato of NJ, Keith Fisher of TX and Brent Fisher of MA; six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Annie, Ellen, Christopher, Mason and Brady; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen M. Fisher; a son, Robert A. Fisher; a sister, Erna Priskorn; and a dear friend, Douglas Marshall.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, followed by a memorial service at 12 noon in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery in Rutland.
