HOLDEN - Ina K. (Granquist) Soderman, 88, a resident of Beaumont at Whitney Place, Northborough and formerly of Mason Road, Holden, died peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2014, following an extended illness. Ina was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Carl and Edla (Grahn) Granquist. She graduated from Commerce High School and Salter Secretarial School.
Ina worked in the accounting department of E.J. Cross in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Previously, she had worked at Clark University and Norton Company. She was an accomplished candlepin bowler, scoring the high single, high triple and high average while participating in the Holden Senior League and the Victory League. Ina enjoyed gardening, and started golfing at the age of 70. In her early years, Ina enjoyed outings with family and friends at the SAC Park in Shrewsbury. Ina was a founding member of the National Association of Woman in Construction, Worcester Chapter.
Ina’s beloved husband of 52 years, Harold W. Soderman died in 2002. She leaves her three children, Linda L. Griffin of Flagler Beach, FL, Ronald R. Soderman and his wife, Donna of Holden and Wayne H. Soderman and his wife, Marty of Bedford, NH; her sister, Nancy Wilson of Vero Beach, FL; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Annie Laflin and her brother, Carl Granquist.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ina’s family on Saturday, June 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A service celebrating Ina’s life will follow at 11 a.m. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
