Biography
WORCESTER – Howard J. Green, 89, died on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington, Vermont.
His wife, Phyllis (Allen) Green died in 2008. He leaves a son, David Green and his wife, Peggy of Burlington, VT; three daughters, Leslie, wife of David Etedgee of Worcester, Stephanie, wife of Steven Levy of Brunswick, ME, and Carrie, wife of Daniel Zinn of Alameda, CA; a sister, Sybil Suvalsky of Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren, Seth and Noah Levy, Lindsey and Casey Green, Sivan Etedgee and his wife, Sarah Failla, Talia, wife of Geoff Brown, Amalia, wife of Sam Blumberg, and Zaria and Aleeza Zinn; three great grandchildren, Emanuel Etedgee, Ezra Brown, and Zamir Blumberg. He was predeceased by his brother Arnold Green.
He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and for many years he and his brother owned and operated Green Bros. of Worcester, brokers of machine tools, retiring in 1993. The company was founded by his father, Morris Green and his uncle, Samuel Green.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific.
He was a member of Worcester Lodge of B’Nai Brith and the Irving Yarock Jewish War Veterans Post # 32. He was very active in the WPI Alumni and had been a Past President of the National Machinery Dealers Association.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH AT BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE AT 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.
Memorial Observance will be held through Sunday Evening and from 6PM to 8PM on Monday, September 5th and Tuesday, September 6th at the residence of Leslie and David Etedgee, 4 South Lenox Street, Worcester.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 South East 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
