Hunter H. Lohman

August 23, 1928 — April 6, 2008

HOLDEN – Hunter H. Lohman, 79, of Juniper Lane, now rests in the hands of God after a sudden heart attack at his home took him from us on Sunday, April 6, 2008.

He will be sadly missed by his beloved family; his wife of 56 years, Margaret (Forbes) Lohman; his three daughters, Mary and her husband Don Mitchell of Sterling, Patty and her husband Steven Davidovich of San Francisco and Carol and her husband John Brann from Franklin; a son, David from Alexandria, VA; He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara, who passed away in January of this year, and his sister Claire Cotter.

In addition to being a loving husband and father he was a devoted grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle leaving 14 grandchildren; Jonathan, Jeremiah, Douglas, Jr., Jerome, Stephanie, Alex, Philip, Maralee, Rosemary, Kehan, Theresa, Hunter, Joey and Charlotte; 4 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jacob, Conrad and Olivia; 3 sisters, Georgia Gentile of Elizabeth, PA, Rosemary Shidel of Sarasota, FL and Mabel Adams of St. Augustine, FL; and many nephews, nieces, and Godchildren.

He was born and raised in McKeesport, PA, son of Hunter J. and Frances (Eger) Lohman. At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps and was assigned to the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, NC, during World War II. After attending the University of Pittsburgh he was recalled to serve his country in the Korean conflict. He met and married Margaret Forbes on August 18, 1951 in the chapel at Camp Lejeune and then resided in McKeesport, PA.

The family, now five children, moved to Juniper Lane in Holden in March of 1963. He had a successful career in finance working for Associates Financial Corporation, Worcester County National Bank and subsequently 26 years with the Small Business Administration in Boston retiring as Deputy Director in Hartford, CT. He was a 26-year member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, serving as Lector Commentator and, working with his wife, at the ministry of flowers for the sanctuary. Previously, he was a member of St. George's Church where he taught CCD and the Senior Marriage Program. For many years, he was Heart Drive Chairman in Holden. An avid bowler with the "Golden Ages" in Auburn he leaves many friends from Wednesday and Friday Leagues. He was a member of the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston, Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council in Worcester. He was a skilled woodworker and an expert of all trades with the wonderful gift of patience which enabled him to share his woodturning and woodworking skills with many of his children and grandchildren. His spirit and strength will be missed by all and cherished by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 11th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Mr. Lohman will be held on Saturday from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
