WEST BOYLSTON – Hilda M. (Occhialini) Amello, 91, of 76 North Main Street, formerly of Woodland Street, died Monday, October 2, 2006, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.
Her husband, Americo J. Amello, died in 1992. She leaves her sister, Eunice A. Arell and her husband Rene of Holden; two nephews, Robert and Paul Arell; and 4 grand-nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Leo, Silvio and Francis Occhialini, predeceased her. She was born in Winchendon, the daughter of Andrew and Susie (Pandolfi) Occhialini, and lived in West Boylston for over 60 years.
Mrs. Amello worked in the rug department at Denholm & McKay Department Store in Worcester for 30 years and later worked 8 years at O’Coins in Worcester before retiring in 1982. She owned and operated, with her husband, Rico’s Variety Store in West Boylston for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, its Women’s Guild, the Parish Hall of Famers and the Catholic Women’s Club of West Boylston. She was also a member of the West Boylston Women’s Club, Senior Citizens and the Friends of the Beaman Memorial Library.
The funeral for Mrs. Amello will be held on Saturday, October 7, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Road, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park (Rte 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 6, in the funeral home.
