Hilda G. (Conrad) Knuth

May 2, 1916 — January 23, 2013

WORCESTER – Hilda G. (Conrad) Knuth, 96, died peacefully at her home at the Briarwood Retirement Community on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Born in Glenn, Michigan and raised in Otsego, Michigan, she was the daughter of Hugh and Maude Turner Conrad. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Paul R. Knuth who died in 2003. They were married for 65 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen K. Evans and her husband Robert of Holden; a granddaughter, Amy Weinstein and her husband David of Barrington, RI; two grandsons, Steven Evans and his wife Barbara of Anthem, AZ and Matthew Evans and his wife Christine of Tuckahoe, NY; five great-grandchildren, Evan and Hannah Weinstein, Nathan, Anna and Finnian Evans; a sister-in-law, Shelly Conrad of Williamsburg, VA and four nieces. She also leaves her loving caregiver and friend, Paula Holloway. Three sisters, Virginia Nees, Vyvyan Clawson and Carma Conrad, and a brother, Sid Conrad, all predeceased her.

Hilda’s family would like to thank the aides and staff at Briarwood for their constant and loving care and the wonderful support of Beacon Hospice.

After living in Sun City Center, Florida for 19 years, Hilda and Paul moved to Briarwood in 2001. Kind and gentle with a wit that would surprise you, Hilda was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Known affectionately as “Grammy K” to her grandchildren and “GG” to her great-grandchildren, she was adored by each.

A private celebration of Hilda’s life for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Briarwood Retirement Community, Residence Assistance Fund, 70 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606; or to Beacon Hospice, 67 Millbrook St., Worcester, MA 01606.
