Hermina (Sterk) Sugar

April 20, 1950 — September 28, 2015

Biography
HOLDEN/WORCESTER – Hermina (Sterk) Sugar, 65, died at University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare, after a long illness on September 28th, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was a loving wife of 31 years, survived by her husband, Robert Sugar of Holden; a daughter, Ilyse Sugar of Holden; a sister, Bella, wife of Alex Damba of Newton; and a niece Michelle, wife of George Sweeney of Franklin.

She was born in Foksan, Rumania, a daughter of Illes and Liusea (Tisel) Sterk and came to the United States when she was 15 years old, settling and living in Boston for many years, Westborough for 17 years, and most recently in Holden for the past 14 years.

She will be best remembered for her ability to light up a room and to make everyone feel like a friend. She was also loved and will be dearly missed by her extended family and friends. If you knew Hermina she had a way with words. She would ask us all not to mourn her in death but instead, celebrate her life and the happy and funny memories of her.
