Biography
WORCESTER - An angel, warrior and jewel of a man has left us on to another journey. Herbert E. Solomon, 80, originally from Worcester, MA and retired to Pawleys Island, SC, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 8, 2017 from complications of a brain tumor.Born on June 29, 1937, Herbert was a son of the late Barney and Beatrice (Fischer) Solomon. He leaves his loving and devoted wife of over 57 years, Janet (Schultz) Solomon; his two children, Beth I. Solomon of Brookeville, MD and Edward Jay Solomon of Atlanta, GA; and his brother, Seymour Solomon of Worcester. Herb attended Classical High School and graduated from Cushing Academy in Ashburham, MA. He graduated from University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT with a degree in business and began his career with Chemical Sales and Service and then worked over 38 years for Schultz Lubricants Inc. in West Boylston, MA retiring in 1998.Herb was an avid skier, skiing all over Europe and for thirty years at Waterville Valley in New Hampshire. He was a passionate golfer, loved traveling and cruising all over Europe and the Caribbean with his wife and family. Since 1997 he spent his winters in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. Herb had a lust for life, a passion for his work and with his magnetic smile and personality drew people and his customers to him as long time friends. His life was dedicated to his devoted family.Herb belonged to the Level Lodge Masons for over fifty years. He also was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai here in Worcester as well as a member of Temple Beth Eloheim in Georgetown, SC.FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 PM ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH IN CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. RABBI VALERIE COHEN OF TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI WILL OFFICIATE. A MASONIC SERVICE WILL PRECEED THE FUNERAL SERVICE. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester.The family wishes to thank Congregation Beth Israel for allowing Temple Emanuel Sinai to use its building for the funeral service, while construction of their own Temple is underway.Memorial Observance will be held from 3PM to 6PM, on Friday, September 15 at the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Memorial Observance will continue from 1 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, September 17 at the Jewish Healthcare Center.Memorial Contributions in Herbs memory may be made to Temple Beth Eloheim, P.O.
