WORCESTER – Dr. Herbert F. Fisher, age 97, died peacefully at home beside his wife of 74 years, early Sunday morning, December 23rd. The couple moved to Worcester from Long Island, New York four years ago to be close to family.
Herbert was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a graduate of Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, City College of New York and University of Pennsylvania Dental School. He served two years in the Army Dental Corps in World War II and was honorably discharged as a Captain.
Herbert practiced General Dentistry for 57 years on Long Island. He was a founding member of Congregation Etz Chaim and the Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Community Center.
He is survived by his wife Roslyn Fisher; his son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Jayne Fisher of Worcester; his grandchildren, Valerie, wife of Rabbi Aaron Philmus and Benjamin Fisher and his wife Micaela O’Shaughnessy and his great-grandchildren, Sophie and Aeden.
A graveside service will be held at at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 26 at Beth Moses Cemetery in Pinelawn, NY under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden. Memorial Observance will be held at the residence of Stuart and Jayne Fisher at 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 27th, 2pm to 4pm on Friday, December 28th, 5pm to 8pm on Saturday, December 29th and 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, December 30th. Minyan Services will be held at 4:30 pm on Thursday, December 27th and Sunday December 30th at the residence.
