HOLDEN – Henry P. Finnegan, 76, of 197 Highland Street, died peacefully in his home with his wife and daughters by his side on Friday, February 20, 2004, after a long illness.
He leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Patricia M. (Connolly) Finnegan; four daughters, Patricia M. Finnegan Gates and her husband, Gerald M. of Princeton, Kathleen M. Finnegan Breen and her husband, Timothy E. of Holden, Christine M. Lawton and her husband, William F. Princeton, and Nancy M. Finnegan and her husband, Dylan H. Caldwell of Gloucester; a brother, Thomas Finnegan of Worcester; a sister, Margaret Paradise of Oakham; nine grandchildren, Mary, Daniel and Margaret Gates, Elizabeth and Michael Breen, Thomas and Sarah Lawton, Sophie and Emmett Caldwell; nephews and nieces. A sister, Mary Malboeuf predeceased him. He was born in Worcester the son of Michael and Catherine T. (Murphy) Finnegan and lived 45 years in Holden.
Mr. Finnegan graduated from Commerce High School and Clark University in 1953, both in Worcester. He worked for Crocker Technology Paper Company in Fitchburg for 10 years, retiring as Vice President of Administration in 2002. Previously, he worked many years for James River Corp. and Weyerhauser Co., both in Fitchburg. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club in Worcester. He enjoyed gardening and vacationing at the beach with his family. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War.
The funeral for Mr. Finnegan will be held Monday, February 23, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1325 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, February 22, in the funeral home.
