AUBURN/HOLDEN – Tyyne "Helen" M. (Jyringi) Soucy, 101, formerly of the Lodge at Eddy Pond, died peacefully under the care of her loving family and the Life Care Center of Auburn on Monday, March 21, 2011. Helen's husband, George C. Soucy died in 1978.
She was born in Fitchburg on October 22, 1909, the daughter of Finnish immigrants, Elias and Selma (Wisuri) Jyringi, and lived 40 years in Worcester and several years in Holden before moving to Auburn in 2004. She worked at the former Bell Company in Worcester for 23 years. While in Holden, she was active at the Holden Senior Center and belonged to several senior groups. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Helen leaves many nephews and nieces including her caregivers, a nephew Wayne A. Jyringi and his wife Rachel of Charlton. Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by three brothers, Aarne, Waino and Niilo Jyringi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of remembrance from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26th at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In honor of Helen's wishes, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
