PRINCETON - Helena "Lee" Kelliher Edwards, M.D., 64, of Princeton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at UMass Memorial-University Campus, Worcester, after a short illness.
She was born and raised in Milton, the daughter of Francis and Miriam (Hoy) Kelliher, and was a graduate of Milton High School. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Tufts University and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Her residency was completed at the University Medical Center in Arizona.
In 1980 she established Holden Pediatrics on Boyden Road in Holden, in order to treat children, infants and adolescents. She was a caring and devoted pediatrician for 40 years where her life was her family, her friends and her patients and their parents. "Some people spend their whole lives wondering if they make a difference", Dr. Kelliher made a difference with each child she treated.
She leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Richard P. Edwards; two sons, Paul S. Edwards and Andrew S. Edwards, both at home; two sisters, Carolyn A. Kelliher of Hingham and Jeanne Donahue and her husband, Edwin of Randolph; two nephews; a niece; two grandnephews; and many special lifelong friends.A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Worcester County Food Bank or the Greater Boston Food Bank. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
