Biography
WORCESTER - Helen Yaffe, age 90 years, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, February 28.

She was a lifelong resident of the City of Worcester. She was the daughter of Joseph and Shula (Leibowitz) Jaffe. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Sydney Yaffe, who died in 2013. She was also predeceased by her brother, Barry Jaffe, and her sister, Leila Jaffe, both of Worcester. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Alan and Sharon Yaffe, of Worcester, and Leonard and Ruth Yaffe, or Tiburon, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Hillary and Matthew Harris, of Riverdale, NY, and their two children, Ayelet and Benjamin Harris; Rachel Yaffe and Steve Silverstein of Watertown, MA; and Dara Yaffee of Cambridge, MA. Her brother, Mickey Jaffe, and his wife Evelyn, live in Plainview, NY. She also loved her granddog, D’vash Harris.

She was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue of Worcester, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Healthcare Center, and other organizations. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for family gatherings, playing mahjong, and attending Yiddish class.

Her family expresses deep gratitude to the caregivers who devoted an exceptional level of love and attention to Helen and to Sydney, caring for them like their own parents.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2PM ON SUNDAY, MARCH 1ST AT BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE ON JAMESBURY DRIVE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. BURIAL WILL BE IN HOLY SOCIETY CEMETERY IN LECEISTER.

Immediately following the interment service, memorial observance will be held through 8pm Sunday and will continue 6pm to 8pm Monday through Thursday Evenings at Congregation Beth Israel. Minyan services will be held each morning at 7am and each evening at 7pm also at Congregation Beth Israel.

In Memory of Helen, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Israel or to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
