Biography
WEST BOYLSTON – Helen Loudon Smith, 75, formerly of Summit, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after an illness.

She leaves two daughters, Caroli S. Flodstrom and her husband Robert of Upton and Deborah S. Hodgkins and her husband Stephen of Princeton; a sister, Barbara Boyd of Charlotte, Vermont; four grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Mark and Connor; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen was born in Summit, New Jersey, the daughter of David S. and Marion O. (Townley) Loudon and lived in New Jersey for most of her life before moving to West Boylston seven years ago. She was a secretary at Chubb Insurance Company for over 20 years before retiring in 1999. She loved gardening, traveling with her sister and spending time with her family and friends. She was devoted to the Jersey Shore and looked forward to spending time on Long Beach Island every September.

A memorial service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, at the First Congregational Church of West Boylston located at 26 Central Street, West Boylston, MA. A private committal service will follow at Hartwood Cemetery in Forestberg, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
