HOLDEN – Helen B. (Case) Ridley, age 99, passed away peacefully at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Born in Leicester, she was the daughter of the late Phillip B. and Esther (Pierce) Case.
Helen graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and soon after met the love of her life, Wayne D. Ridley, Sr. She went on to work as a Doctor’s Assistant for many years.
She was talented at knitting and quilting, creating many memorable pieces for her grandchildren and other family members. She always had a green thumb and was very passionate about her gardens. As a family, they would go camping all over New England and New York. In her retirement years, she traveled to many national parks.
Helen was also a talented baker, delighting her friends and family with her homemade cookies, cakes and pies. She was an active member of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Worcester, where she taught Sunday School, volunteered with the Pioneer Girls and was a member of the quilting bee.
Her loving husband of 60 years, Wayne D. Ridley, Sr, died in 2006. She will be lovingly missed by her three sons, Wayne D. Ridley, Jr. and his wife, Peggy Prynoski of Leicester, Herbert C. Ridley of Gardner, Gary J. Ridley and his wife, Carol of Palmer, Alaska; a daughter, Bonnie L. Paddock of Rutland; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Case; and two sisters, Nancy Cameron and Charlotte Emily Weeks.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, Greater Worcester Funeral Care.
