WEST BOYLSTON – Helen L. (Johnson) Fitts, 90, of North Main Street, Oakdale, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, in Oakdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.
Her husband of 49 years, Emory A. Fitts, died in 1991. She leaves a daughter, Judith H. Boilard and her husband Roger of Princeton; a brother, Walter Johnson of Virginia; two grandchildren, Laurie Anne and Timothy M. Boilard both of Worcester; a great-grandson, Dana Boilard of Worcester; nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Gunhild and Doris Johnson, and two brothers, Hilding and Everett Johnson, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Andrew and Christina (Johnson) Johnson and lived over 50 years in West Boylston.
Mrs. Fitts graduated from Worcester State College and taught fifth, sixth and seventth grades at the Major Edwards School in West Boylston for 20 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston and the Vasa Order of America, Charles Linbergh and John Ericsson Lodges.
The funeral for Mrs. Fitts will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 28, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
