Helen D. (Kristopovich) Faucher

November 26, 1926 — March 8, 2015

PAXTON – Helen D. (Kristopovich) Faucher, 88, of Paxton died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Born and raised in Worcester, Helen was the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, Adam and Victoria (Baublintie) Kristopovich and lived over 60 years in Paxton.

Her husband of 26 years, Robert W. Faucher, died in 1976 at the age of 50. She leaves two sons, Brian R. Faucher and his wife, Sharon and Scott J. Faucher and his wife, Kristen all of Paxton; a brother, Anthony Krist of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah and Alexandra Faucher, Adam and Nicholas Smith; a son-in-law, Stephen Smith of Cocolalla, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Pamela “Penny” Smith, died in 2013. She is also predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Benjamin, John and Paul Kristo and two sisters, Victoria Daniel and Dorothy Komosky.

Helen graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and worked several years at Pullman-Standard Car Co., a railroad car manufacturer in Worcester. She was the bookkeeper at Faucher Brothers Plastering Co. in Paxton for many years. After the untimely death of her husband in 1976, she became a school bus driver for Paxton Garage where she worked part-time for many years. She was also a longtime worker at the voting polls in Paxton.

One of Helen’s favorite pastimes was playing cards. Rarely would a Thursday night go by that you wouldn’t find her either hosting or attending a card playing evening with her close friends and family. Some of her grandchildren’s first memory of their grandmother was sitting around her kitchen table and learning how to play cards. In her later years, she could be found organizing day trips to Twin Rivers Casino in Rhode Island.

She also enjoyed gardening in her backyard and watching the birds flocking around one of her many birdfeeders. She was an avid pet lover. Helen was strong-willed and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen’s family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a memorial service honoring her life at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place privately at Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, Helen requested that you do a random act of kindness for a stranger.
