RUTLAND – Helen A. (Bjorklund) Davis, 93, a resident for 49 years, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nurse Center after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Michael and Lena (Carlson) Bjorklund.
Her loving husband, Frederick L. Davis, passed away in 1973. She leaves two daughters, Donna Blake and her husband, Albert of Wake Forest, NC and Linda Barrett of Worcester; grandchildren, A’ndrea Reiter and her husband, Joseph of Brooklyn, NY, Travis Blake and his wife, Sherri of West Boylston, Jeremy Barrett of Grafton, Kat and Jonah Malone of Grafton, Justin, Maria, Charlotte Barrett and Thomas Bolstad of Westborough.
Helen worked at Norton Company in Worcester for many years before retiring. She was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Western Riders Inc., Rutland Grange, Rutland Recreational Council and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a 4-H Horse Club Leader and as a young woman, Helen sang with the Sibelius Group at the World’s Fair in New York and at Mechanics Hall.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Helen on Friday, Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held at Rural Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
