WORCESTER - Helen Bosnakis, aged 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24 at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living in Worcester.
Helen was born in Worcester to George and Lemonia Bosnakis. She was a lifelong member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, a longtime member of the cathedral choir and volunteered for many years at the semi-annual St. Spyridon Grecian Festival. She had a deep faith and pride in her Greek heritage.
After graduating from Commerce High School in 1952, Helen began her career at New England Electric, which later became National Grid in Westborough. She stayed with the company until her retirement in 1998.
Central to Helen’s life was her love of family. She enjoyed close relationships with her three nieces and four nephews. She was deeply loved by her great nieces & nephews who considered her a “Bonus” Grandparent. They affectionately referred to her as “Honey”. She never missed a family celebration and hosted many Christmas dinners at her home on Kinnicutt Rd. in Worcester.
After her retirement she volunteered for several years at UMass Memorial NICU Continuing Care Unit weekly. She also knitted caps for the premature babies in the unit. She enjoyed lunches with her retired ladies from National Grid & filled her days with visiting her family.
She will be remembered as loving a generous aunt by her family: Arthur Tonna Jr., Elizabeth Sarantos & her husband Constantine, Andrew Tonna and his wife Anna, Anastasia Tanionos and her husband Nicholas, George Bosnakis and his wife Sandra, and Joy Bosnakis and their families. She was predeceased by her nephew Elliot Tonna, her brother James Bosnakis and his wife Marianthe Bosnakis, her sister Mary Tonna and her husband Arthur Tonna.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, October 31st, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster St., Worcester.
