Helen A. Baguskas

April 29, 1920 — January 8, 2024

BOYLSTON - Helen A. (Palonis) Baguskas, aged 103, peacefully passed away under the compassionate care of the staff at Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester. Born at home and raised in the Vernon Hill section of Worcester, Helen was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Adella (Klimas) Palonis. She spent the last 60 years of her life in Boylston. Her husband, Constantine Baguskas, preceded her in death in 2001.

Helen will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Karen Nelson of Richmond, Virginia; two sons, Roger Baguskas of Bradenton, Florida, and William Baguskas of Columbus, Ohio. Additionally, she is survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Special recognition is given to her granddaughter, Sarah Motyl-Szary of Clinton, whose tireless efforts brought much comfort to the final years of Helen's life.

A graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester, class of 1938, Helen furthered her education at Salters Secretarial School. Upon her children reaching a more independent age, Helen began a second career at the former R.H. Whites and later at Jamesbury Corporation, both in Worcester.

An active member of the First Congregational Church of Boylston and its Lady's Benevolent Society, Helen and the group knitted hats and blankets for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UMass Memorial Hospital. Helen, an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver, enriched her quality of life through active participation in the Boylston Senior Center. She will be fondly remembered for her kind and gentle nature, leaving a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to cross her path.

Helen's family plans to celebrate her life this summer at a family gathering. A graveside service will be held privately at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. To share a memory or offer condolences, please visit the "Tribute Wall" on this page.
