HOLDEN – Betsy H. (Hall) Davidson, 92, of Causeway Street, Jefferson, died peacefully at Holden Nursing Home on Saturday, October 17, 2009.
Betsy was born in Worcester, the daughter of John E. and Bertha (Flickinger) Hall. She lived in Jefferson with Richard C. Davidson, her husband of 49 years, who died in 1993. She is survived by three sons, Richard C. Davidson, Jr. and his wife Diana of Alexandria, VA; Bruce H. Davidson and his wife Karen of East Amherst, NY; Robert H. Davidson of Jefferson, a grandson, Jason O. Davidson of Perryville, MD; 1 step-grandson, Eric Rowe of Arlington, VA; 16 nieces and nephews; and 2 special friends, Raj Kashore of Fredericksburg, VA and Kimiko Abramoff of Worcester.
Betsy graduated from South High School in Worcester and received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Education from Worcester State Teachers College. She taught second grade at Dawson School in Holden for 27 years. She was an active member of St. Francis Church and was a docent at the Worcester Art and Buffalo Art Museums. She was a member of the Holden Council on Aging and not only delivered for meals-on-wheels in Holden but also performed with the Silly Seniors as a clown, both until the age of 89. A charter member of the International Center in Worcester, she and her husband, Richard, hosted many holiday dinners for students who were away from home. There was always a place at her table for everyone. She loved spending time with her family and loved painting, hiking, gardening and traveling. An accomplish pianist, she played the recorder with the Recorder Society.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 5th, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A memorial celebration of Betsy's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6th, in St. Francis Episcopal Church, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Church Memorial Fund, 70 Highland Street, Holden, MA 01520.
