SUTTON - Marcel H. Clavien, 66, of 16 Eagle Drive, died Monday, November 20, 2006, in his home after a two-month battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Mireille (Bruneteau) Clavien; his son, Roland Clavien and his wife Holly of Brandon, Mississippi; his daughter, Simone Quinn and her husband Paul of Darien, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Kiera, Tiernan and Colette Quinn; and his sister, Yvonne Steffen of San Francisco, California. He was born in Worcester the son of Marcel I. Clavien and Lucienne A. (Viard) Clavien.
Marcel was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning from Vietnam, Marcel received his Master’s Degree in Business from Stanford University in California.
Marcel had an illustrious 30-year career in the cable and wire industry culminating with his receipt in 2003 of the industry wide award for lifetime achievement bestowed on him by International Wire Cable Association. He also served on the IWCA Board of Directors. Most recently he was Vice President of Corporate Purchasing for Cable Design Technology in Worcester. Previously he worked for Anixter in Illinois for 12 years. His jobs relocated him for many years to New Jersey and Chicago but he returned to the Worcester area in 1993. He served on the Efficiency Committee for the Town of Sutton and he was involved with the Annual Appeal of Auburn Youth and Family Services. He had recently finished his dream retirement home located on the golf course at Pleasant Valley Country Club.
A funeral Mass for Marcel will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 25, in St. Mark’s Parish, 356 Boston Road, Sutton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 24, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
