HOLDEN – Hazel L. (Wood) Welsh, 100, formerly of Manning St., died Friday, October 21, 2005, in Holden Nursing Home.
Her husband of 58 years, James E. Welsh, Sr., died in 1985. She leaves three sons, James E. Welsh, Jr. and Robert A. Welsh of Beverly Hills, Florida; and William R. Welsh of Holden; three sisters, Donna Clark of Rochdale, Martha Fellars of Arkansas, and Marion Supernor of Worcester; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Harold and Elmer Wood, a sister, Norma LaTour, two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, predeceased her.
Mrs. Welsh was born in Wilton, Maine, daughter of Walter S. and Theresa (Lawless) Wood, and lived in Jefferson for 81 years. She worked in various textile mills including Jefferson Mills. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
The funeral for Mrs. Welsh will be held on Monday, October 24, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
