HOLDEN – Hazel M. (Cilley) Lund, 96, formerly of Holden, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston. Hazel was born in Colebrook, NH, the daughter of Leon W. and Effie (Neary) Cilley and lived in Holden and Jefferson for over 70 years.
Hazel worked as a home health aide for over 30 years. During this time she also helped manage the Lund family farm. She loved quilting and sewing and was a fixture at the annual “Holden Day’s” event where she showcased her work. For many years she volunteered at the Wachusett Regional Recycling Center in West Boylston and at Camp Putnam in New Braintree. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holden.
In 1985, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Lund. Hazel is survived and will be dearly missed by her sons, Robert R. Lund of Burke, VA, Samuel R. Lund of Leicester and Michael C. Lund of Rutland; her daughter, Joan M. Iodice of Las Crucez, NM; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hazel was predeceased by her sons, Junior H. Lund in 1969 and Frederick M. Lund in 2002; and her brother, Clifton Cilley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 pm followed by a funeral service at 4 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be at 12 noon on Monday, November 25 at East Haven Cemetery, East Haven,VT.
