STERLING – Robert H. Arsenault, 89, of Clemence Avenue, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 68 years, Dorothy E. B. (Attfield) Arsenault; a son, Dennis R. Arsenault and his wife Elaine of Skowhegan, Maine; two daughters, Penelope G. Montcalm and her husband Russell of Clinton, and Elaine B. Snell and her husband Charles of Deerfield, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Lisa Weggler of Madison, Maine, Deanna Gilboe of Jackman, ME, Scot Arsenault of Thomaston, Maine, Jeffrey Snell of Epsom, New Hampshire, Melissa Lemire of Weare, New Hampshire, Kimberly Golden of Overland Park, Kansas, Glenn and Gregg Kush of Sterling; and sixteen great grandchildren. He was born in Fitchburg, the son of Barney J. and Nellie (Wallace) Arsenault. He graduated from Fitchburg High School and lived in Sterling for 52 years.

Mr. Arsenault was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for John Hancock Insurance, and retired from the Lester L. Burdick Insurance Agency after 25 years of service. He was a mason at the Aurora Lodge in Fitchburg and a member of AA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. With his beloved wife, he spent 30 years traveling the North American countryside.

The funeral service for Mr. Arsenault will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road, Sterling. Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 9, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macular Degeneration Foundation Fighting Blindness, 11435 Cronhill Drive, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
