HOLDEN - H. Robert “Bob” Hallen Jr., 81, of 108 Parker Avenue, died Saturday, September 3, 2005, in the Worcester Medical Center.
His wife of 57 years, Betty Jean (Wees) Hallen, died in 2002. He leaves a son, Robert G. and his wife Barbara D. Hallen of Holden; a daughter, Darla G. and her husband John M. Cavanaugh of Holden; a brother, Edward Hallen of Conway; a sister, Dorothy Hallen of Holden; two grandsons, Benjamin Hallen of Worcester and Brandon and his wife Dr. Sarah A. Hallen of Rochester, N.Y. He was born in Worcester, son of Herbert R. and Hilda (Carlson) Hallen.
Mr. Hallen was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was co-owner of G & H Woodworking Company in Worcester for 45 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holden, a life member and former Adjuntant of the West Boylston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6907. He served on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts, and was past Scout Master and originator of Troop 175 in Chaffins. He was a volunteer along with his wife for the Meals-on-Wheels program at the Holden Senior Center. He enjoyed gardening and sports.
The funeral service for Mr. Hallen will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, in the First Baptist Church, 1216 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging, 1130 Main Street, Holden MA 01520.
