HOLDEN – Elinor G. (Walkins) Johnson, 90, of 68 Reservoir Street, a 55-year resident of Holden, died Monday, January 7, 2008 in the Sterling Healthcare Center, after a brief illness.
Her husband, Clifford N. Johnson, died in1980. She leaves her son, David L. Johnson and his wife Betty of Holden; a granddaughter, Tracey Bell and her husband Scott of Rutland; many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Roger and William, three sisters, Marion Connor, Gertrude and Charlotte Walkins, a foster brother, Allan Knapp and a foster sister, Esther Grover, all predeceased her. She was born in Bridgewater, the daughter of Luther C. and Lizzie L. (Curtis) Walkins, and was raised in Petersham.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Petersham High School. For many years she was a school crossing guard in Holden. She was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church and its ladies aid society.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 10th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in Chaffin Congregational Church, Holden. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery.
