Grace M. (Carruthers) Richards

October 7, 1930 — December 21, 2020

WORCESTER -- Grace M. (Carruthers) Richards, 90, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester from complications due to COVID-19. Born and raised in Worcester, Grace was the daughter of the late Harold and Grace (Adams) Carruthers and lived the last several months in Auburn. Her beloved husband of 49 years, Basil C. Richards died in 2007.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two sons, David C. Richards and his companion, Gail Longueil of Auburn and John H. Richards of Leicester; three daughters, Jean E. Picard and her husband Steven, of North Brookfield, Jodi A. Arsenault of Millbury and Judy L. Grady and her husband, Bob of Webster; five sisters, Joan Smith and her husband, Harold of Paxton, Ruth Kucher of Worcester, Gloria Weldon of Dudley, Nancy Zacharicz and her husband, Bill of Sutton and Susan Alonzo and her husband, Vincent of Alabama; 11 grandchildren; 21 Great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Neal H. Richards.

Grace was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a relatively private person with an independent spirit. She looked forward to her trips to the casino and traveling throughout New England. Grace spent over 20 years working at the West Boylston Street McDonalds in Worcester.

Grace’s family will honor and celebrate her life privately at Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veteran’s Inc, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit the "Tribute Wall" on this page.
