PAXTON – Grace E. Gamache, 84, of 55 Grove Street, died Monday, August 15, 2005 in the Radius Healthcare Center of Worcester after a long illness.
Her husband of 39 years, Arthur O. Gamache, died in 1982. She leaves her son, Kenneth A. Gamache and his wife Diane of Upton; two daughters, Karen J. Johnson and her husband Scott of Hubbardston and Cheryl M. Bradley and her husband Robert of Tyngsborough; a brother, Robert Erickson of Worcester; two sisters, Charlotte Popowicz of Worcester and Arlene Uppstrom of Sutton; 7 grandchildren, Keri, Robin and Leanne Johnson, Michelle and Jeanne Bradley, and Christopher and Kelly Gamache. Two brothers, James and Reinhold Erickson, and a sister, Rita Macomber, predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Frank R. and Catherine A. (Fitzgerald) Erickson, and has lived in Paxton since 1953. She graduated South High School in 1939.
Mrs. Gamache worked as an inspector at Astra Pharmaceutical in Worcester for several years, retiring in 1981. Previously she worked in the library at Anna Maria College. She was a member of St. Columba Church.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Gamache will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, in St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Avenue, Paxton, MA 01612; or to a charity of one’s choice.
