WORCESTER – Grace E. (Austin) Nichols, 105, died Saturday, March 12, in UMass Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.
Her husband of 39 years, George A. Nichols, died in 1961. She leaves a son, Irwin E. Nichols and his wife Sandra of Worcester; two daughters, Phyllis M. Nichols with whom she lived and June E. Rybicki and her husband Julian of Arcadia, CA; a sister, Viola Lawrence of New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Tracy Potter of Pennsylvania and Ross Nichols and his wife Dawn of Charlton; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer and Lauren Potter all of Pennsylvania. Two sisters, Emma Chandler and Carolyn Kelsey, predeceased her. She was born in Sutton the daughter of Lucius and Mary (Carson) Austin and lived in Upton and 41 years in Worcester.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Oak Hill Bible Church in Oxford and was a former deaconess, a member of the Mission Society and played the piano. She attended the First Alliance Church in Worcester.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, at Howard Cemetery, Armsby Road, Sutton. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in June at a time and day to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Oak Hill Bible Church, P.O.
