WEST BOYLSTON – Grace A. (Parker) Phelps, 99, of 139R Worcester Street, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, five days prior to her 100th birthday.
Her husband, Stanley R. Phelps, died in 1975. She leaves a daughter, Audrey J. Daigneau and her husband Franklin of West Boylston; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Luella Phelps of West Boylston; nephews and nieces. Two sons, Bruce J. and Ronald L. Phelps predeceased her. She was born in Worcester and lived 92 years in West Boylston.
Mrs. Phelps graduated from West Boylston High School and worked for Pearl K. McGown, a hooked rug designer, in West Boylston for fourteen years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston and a charter member of its Thrift Shop. She was also a member of the West Boylston Women’s Club and the West Boylston Senior Citizens She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, played the piano, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
A memorial service for Mrs. Phelps will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 27 in the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street, West Boylston. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street, West Boylston, MA 01583. Miles – Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, is directing arrangements.
